Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission announced today that
CallTech Communications, LLC, a Columbus, Ohio-based company, will open
its newest center in Albany at the former WalMart location, 2707 Dawson
Road. This service provider has expanded its presence to the Albany area
in order to supply customer care and support for a number of clients.
CallTech's Albany center will offer its clients customer service
capabilities via phone, fax, e-mail and click-to-chat. This will be
CallTech's fifth center to open since their inception in 1996. "We need
customer service people who can provide quality technical support with a
pleasant, caring concern for the customer. We are impressed with the
demographics and character of the people of Albany," said Bob Massey,
CallTech Communications, Chairman.
The project began with Georgia Department of Industry, Trade, and
Tourism (GDITT) when they contacted the Albany Dougherty Economic
Development Commission (EDC) in late December. It rapidly progressed
with several site visits, numerous phone conversations and concurrent
negotiations between EDC, the City of Albany, Vanguard Associates, and
CallTech. Massey stated that CallTech selected Albany, Georgia after
careful assessment of several other sites including locations both
within and outside the State of Georgia. "We're delighted to have
CallTech because it broadens the venue for Albany in the e-commerce
world. A project of this description is in line with the type industry
that we have targeted for several years. We are very excited and want to
thank CallTech for choosing Albany," said Jeff "Bodine" Sinyard,
Chairman, Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission.
CallTech will bring over 100 new jobs to Albany, which will include
technical support agents and supervisory/managerial positions. "A job is
the backbone for each individual's life and every community's life as
well. These jobs will ultimately change someone's life in an incredibly
positive manner. All of our citizens that want to work deserve a good
job," said Sinyard.
The state's Quick Start program and Albany Technical College, through a
special partnership with the company, will train CallTech employees in
essential technical and customer contact skills during an intensive
40-hour pre-employment training program. This training will prepare
employees to succeed in CallTech training that will follow and to
provide top-quality technical support for customers. Georgia's Quick
Start program is nationally recognized for providing high-quality
training services at no cost to new and expanding businesses in Georgia.
"This is an excellent opportunity to assist CallTech with preparing
their initial workforce so they can be as profitable and effective as
they can. We welcome them to the community and we will be happy to
provide any other technical training or workforce development that would
be appropriate," said Dr. Anthony Parker, President, Albany Technical
College.
"CallTech is extremely excited about this new partnership with the State
of Georgia and City of Albany. This is the beginning of what should be
an expanding relationship and opportunity for the people of Albany.
CallTech is a forerunner in providing customer service for organizations
such as BellSouth, and a leader in offering career development and
benefits for its employees," said C.J. Petitti, CallTech Chief Executive
Officer. Retrofitting of the former WalMart Building is underway.
CallTech should be able to start equipping their space approximately
May1 and plans to be fully operational June 1.
